To-Do Tuesday: Issue 1 May 5, 2026
*crown* Columbia Law School To-Do Tuesday
Happy To-Do Tuesday! This is the first of our weekly emails for incoming Columbia Law School students from the Office of Student Services. Today, we are focusing on two items that you should complete as soon as possible: technology requirements and the housing application. We will also let you know about CLS Connect.

Technology Requirements

In a few weeks, we will begin contacting you solely through your UNI email address. If you have not already activated your UNI and your LawNet, please do the following ASAP:

  • Activate your University accounts (UNI/Lionmail), and set up your email to receive notifications.
    • Be sure to check your LionMail/UNI account since all official communications from Columbia University and Columbia Law School, including the Office of Student Services, will be sent to your Lionmail/UNI account.
  • Complete Your LawNet Profile. Note: Once your LawNet Profile is activated, it takes 24 hours for CLS Connect to be active.
    • Your LawNet profile is used by students, faculty, and staff to get to know you. Students are required to complete the following fields:
      • Emergency Contact Person
        • This field is only viewable by authorized Law School staff members.
      • Emergency Contact Information
        • This field is only viewable by authorized Law School staff members.
      • Pronouns
        • Add the pronouns by which you identify (optional)
      • Phonetic Name Pronunciation
      • Name Sound File (instructions)
  • Review the New Student Guide to Technology.
  • Complete the Computer-Based Training Module.

Please Read Carefully: Incomplete technology requirements will be flagged and may result in registration holds. Until requirements are completed, holds will delay your access to academic events.

Housing Application and Information

Deadlines
May 2: Housing application due (priority approval)
May 5: Housing selection opens for approved students

Should you wish to apply for on-campus housing, use the Housing Portal to submit your application to the Columbia Residential office.
  • You will need your PID. Your PID is an identifier that is unique to you. You should have received your PID in an email from the Office of Admissions. If you do not have it, please check your spam folder. You may also call (212) 854-2674 or email the Office of Admissions for assistance.
  • You will need your UNI email: If you have not activated your UNI email account, forgot your password, or need to reset your password, click here. Housing information will only be sent to your UNI email account
Only students who submit a housing application on or before May 2, 2026 will be prioritized for on-campus housing. Students who apply after May 2 will not be prioritized for a housing assignment.

Please note that there is a $20 administrative non-refundable fee to submit an on-campus housing application.

For housing-related questions, please email Luke Christie, the Law School’s housing liaison, at housing@law.columbia.edu.

Super Student Services Team Spotlight

Male, glasses, light blue dress shirt
Luke Christie, Assistant Director of Student Life, serves as the housing liaison for Columbia Law students navigating on-campus housing questions and concerns. In addition to housing support, Luke partners with active student organizations and journals to create fun and engaging programming that promotes social, emotional, and mental well-being for student participants.
Some highlights include partnering with Columbia Law Students for Voting Rights (CSLVR) on the 2025 Mayoral Voter Registration Drive, working with the Columbia Law Women’s Association (CLWA) on a three-part Physical Wellness Series featuring yoga, a Harlem Cycle spin class, and Equinox, and—most proudly—bringing suicide and substance abuse prevention programming to the Law School in collaboration with Columbia University Counseling & Psychological Services (CPS). He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Long Island University–Brooklyn.
Fun Fact: “I’ve recently discovered a passion for fiction novels. Historically, I’ve been a nonfiction, history-focused reader, but one of my favorite books I read in 2025 was The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett."
